PROTOTYPE CLASS MINI 6.50 - Speedy González
Guillaume Verdier design
a dream . . .
come true . . .
A state-of-the-art offshore foiling Mini 6.50 designed by the top naval architect of our times, Guillaume Verdier, Jay chose to work with him because of his experience designing boats that fly. Speedy González is a full carbon fibre construction, equipped with a canting keel and Y foils, a research and development project where new technologies were tested. Built by Jay and launched in March of 2020, for the next 3 years Jay participated in many races of the Classe Mini circuit culminating in the Mini-Transat of 2021 and later setting the official Transatlantic World Sailing Speed Record in 2023.
Since the inception of the Classe Mini 6.50 in 1977 with the first Mini-Transat race (a biennial transatlantic solo race), it was clear that testing on these “Formula 1” type of boats was and still is the future of all boat design. Foils were allowed for the first time in the Mini-Transat of 2017, since then there have only been a handful of mini foilers built, SpeedyG being the 3rd. SpeedyG (for short) is for sale and is one of the best prototype boats of the Mini fleet, a highly competitive machine, with a bit of optimisation, it’s ready to win races.
Speedy González, officially known as Mini number 936 is for sale.
PROTOTYPE 1 Tonner 12m - Messenger
German Frers design
a dream boat . . .
rescued and restored . . .
When Messenger was built in 1982 racers brought wine and playing cards along with them and foul-weather gear consisted of PVC coated nylon. Times have changed but just like a 1982 Ferrari invokes nostalgia, Messenger speaks of a memorable era of offshore racing.
In 2010 we rescued Messenger, a prototype race boat which was in need of a lot of love. After some very hard work and a modest budget we set sail on a voyage that would take us some 20,000 nautical miles throughout the Caribbean, Atlantic, Arctic, and North sea. Our journey was filled with unforgettable memories and hardships, but that's what a proper adventure is all about.
It was our home for 12 years, we sailed and travelled with Messenger for 7 years. When we set sail we were a family of 4, Sol and Luna were very young and Caribe and Ártico were born along the way . . . after settling in Brittany the boat continued to be our floating home for another 5 years in the small port of Etel in France, but we have finally outgrown it. Messenger took us on many adventures, an incredibly sea worthy boat, a one of a kind minimalist vessel, light and fast, ready for so many more adventures.
